The time has come everyone, the official launch of Rhyolite 2.0 has arrived! Please remember 'out of character' will hence forth be in use on this forum. Lets start post our introductions!

Just remember:

Every character should wake up at a random part on the outer stretch of the island. They wake up not knowing where they are, how they got there or most frighteningly who they are. They have nothing but the clothes they were wearing before the abduction and a note in their pocket that says in order to survive they must find a camp located in the middle of the island. Any travel partners are welcome and do not necessarily have to be their assigned partners.
After a difficult journey to the center of the island characters will find a tree-house village, each house dawning a sign with two pictures and respective names. Each house has been placed high in the trees branches seldom at the bottom a long rope ladder the only way to the door. When characters enter their assigned house they will find another note which states this as their living quarters and that the one they are sharing the house with plays an important part in their survival here on the island. Each tree house seems carefully built and sturdy but small, dawned with only two low mattresses (spaced just a yard apart both made with thin sheets and one pillow) and a large trunk at the back for the two of them to share. (The trunk contains a pair of plaid pajama pants and a white T-shirt for each member, combat boots, one pair of green or tan cargo pants and shorts for each, a second T-shirt for the boys and a black tank top for the girls. Each is also give two pairs of undergarments and a think black jacket. Also in the trunk is a sparse amount of soap, an empty water pail, two wool blankets and a small bag non-perishables meant to be used in moderation.) There are two long windows which cannot be opened on either side of the house providing view of tangled branches and leaves. Depending on placement some windows may be able to spot other tree houses especially in winter. It's suspected the walls are lined with something because while not always comfortable the tree houses are never unbaribley hot or cold. On the ceiling hangs a solar powered lantern (the only source of light during the night) and a small trapped door where a daring character may be able to climb out and hang among the branches maybe hang out cloths to dry. Be careful however because there are no restraints keeping you from falling. Any cooking must be done over the fire on the ground. The last thing in the note warns the characters that the forest floor is a dangerous place to be at night. Oh and that a chance for more supplies would be coming soon.

I suggest everyone be creative with the setting remember the government can throw anything at them. The only landmark I think crucial to mentioning is a clear water spring fifteen minutes walk away where character can bathe and gather water. And the beach a two hour trek out.

Letter found in pocket:

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

Letter in cabin:
'Welcome home -character names-!
Though this might look quite different from your last home we are confident our humble abode will bring you safety during your stay here on Etiloy Island.
If you find you supplies look sparse, cherish your new friend as you'll soon find they alone hold the key to your success or neglect.
Take care settling in friends and remember strange things crawl in the night.'

PostSubject: Loretta   New Beginnings Icon_minitimeFri Nov 11, 2011 2:16 am

There was a faint tugging on Loretta's hair. First at it's tips just a slight tickle at her scalp. Then it got progressively harder and harder, half-conscious she rose her hand to defend herself, connecting with cropped bristling fur the muscles underneath hardening. As a harsh hiss spit into Loretta's ear panic rose she snapped her eyes open. Two wild eyes glared back at her.

The impulse to run flooded over her making her sit bolt up right staggering to stand. But the creature in her hair hissed louder now scrambling to flee yet caught in her hair. As it grew more panicked throaty sounds started to spew from it's mouth, as it tried to rip itself free each time making Loretta cry out a bit. She thrust her hands up to the animal trying to dislodge it, but all it did was bite at her fingers their lopsided dance continuing. Finally unsure of wait else to do she feel dropping her head into the soft sand beneath her sinking the animal with it. Stunning it just long enough for her to pull her hair from it, several strands ripping out in the process.

She staggered back from the animal she could now identify as a black money dashing into the leaves. She didn't have time to relax before another money burst from the trees, hissed at her circling the lost strands of Loretta's hair. It gathered them, short her a last glare then ran, a battle cry of success echoing behind it.

Loretta sat hand on her heart; stunned. As her breathing slowed she pulled her legs closer, the soft beating of her heart filling her ears. Something about it demanded attention, but the longer she listened the more it unnerved her. She didn't know why and unable to grasp an answer she sought to distract herself.

First she reach for her head which still throbbed. She pushed her hands into her hair, fingers combing through it several more strands falling from their wake. However undoing the knots -which had probably been there long before the monkey decided to make them worse- proved to hurt far more than it was worth. So she took a purple hairband from the dozen or so wrapped around her wrist and tied it up into a low well-practiced side bun.

Hair out of the way she began to survey her surroundings. All around her was was white pearled sand, stretching out to either side of her as far as the eye could see. Just a little ways ahead was the monkey's forest, who's canopy could no doubt could been admired. But given recent events Loretta wasn't much up for appreciating them. Instead she identified the trunks as tall, the leaves as dense and moved on. But when she turned around the story was much different, the ocean well it was the most beautiful things she'd ever seen. Clear, a blue lighter than the sky she could hardly believe the scape was really churning in front of her. Oceans had always been a double edged beauty for her, she'd never been taught how to swim so their danger was ever present. But perhaps the mystery of it was what added to it's beauty she thought.

She didn't understand why she was here. She couldn't swim, so why would she visit a beach? Or at any rate why would she visit it alone. Try as she could Loretta couldn't remember why she'd come here. Okay, she thought still puzzled. Lets start with how you got here. She couldn't answer that either. Nor the next question or the question after. Why was she asleep in the sand? Did anyone know where she was? Did anyone know who she was? It dawned on Loretta that she couldn't even call on her own name.

Immediately her hand went to her pockets, for an ID, a picture anything. All she found was a small folded piece of parchment which she quickly unfolded. It read:

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

"Etiloy..." she said slowly trying it out. "Etiloy Island," she said more firm this time trying to call on some form of recognition. "Etiloy Island..." her throat constricted a force pushing down on her as panic pulsed in her veins.

Desperate she ran to the sea until the water tickled her ankles. She turned and looked at the forest, looking for buildings, smoke anything that would lead her to believe there were others here. But the trees were too tall. She was alone. Her breathing grew labored, catching in her throat. This had to be a dream but even as she wished it she knew it wasn't true. Struggling not to fall to hysterics, she told herself she must get to high ground she had to see things more clearly.

She broke off into a run through the forest, clumsily stomping through anything smaller than her twigs pulling at her hair eyes staring out at her from every corner. She ran and ran in no set direction until she was sure the monkeys were laughing at her taunting her with their paw fulls of her hair. She heard screaming, which seemed to chase her. They were her own screams, which she only realized once she tripped and they cut off. Cupping her hands to her mouth she curled up in the spot she'd fallen (at the edge of the forest looking out a different part of the beach) and tried to calm herself. She was over reacting, she told herself. I just need to calm down.

((Phew, first post WOOH! I think it's fair to say her power took effect a bit towards the end.))

The warm sunlight lay delicately over Callum's skin, a soft breeze brushing through the locks of blonde hair that were not wet. At the edge of the ocean he lay, unaware of any of his surroundings. Slowly, he stirred. A pair of dark eyes flickered open to meet the clear blue sky. Callum lay there for a moment, not a single thought running through his mind until he was suddenly underwater.

Spitting and coughing Callum scrambled to his feet, his clothes wet as he stood in the center of a wave that had just washed up onto shore. Not knowing nearly anything at all at this moment his mind remained blank as he slowly looked around taking the scenery in. The sand was so white it hurt his eyes, the water was so clear he could see the fish swimming around beneath the foamy waves. Another wave washed onto shore and circled at his ankles.

Letting out a huff of irritation Callum walked away from the waters and took off his wet shoes and socks. All of his clothes were wet and stuck to him. Why was he wearing a collared button down and jeans to a beach? Callum took off his shirt and laid it next to his shoes and socks on the sand to dry. He sat down on the sand alongside it and looked out to the ocean. There didn't seem to be any surrounding islands for miles, and no boats out there either. Callum turned his head to look behind him, and all he could see was the dark overgrown forest behind him. He looked to each side of him and all he could take in was the endless beach.

Seeing as there seemed to be no civilization here, he took off the rest of his wet clothing (excluding boxers) and lay it out to dry. He lay down on the sand and closed his eyes trying to think. He couldn't recall anything that had happened to him before waking up by the water. It then occurred to him that he couldn't even recall his name even if he tried. What was supposed to be drilled into your head since you were born was suddenly just not there for him. Callum opened his eyes and stared at the empty blue sky. He knew he should be worried, scared, even, but he was uncertain of how to react to this, and his best reaction was to stay put. Someone or something would come along, and if this island was uninhabited he could figure out how to live somehow. Callum was confident that he'd be alright.

A few hours passed and soon his clothes were dry. Sitting up, Callum brushed off the sand that stuck to his back and picked up his jeans. He beat off the sand from them and began to put them back on when he heard a little crinkle as if there was something in his pocket that had dried along with his pants. He then realized that he could have something in his pocket that could possibly give him an idea of where he was or who he was. Callum finished buttoning up his pants and pulled out a note from his pocket. The writing was smeared and the paper was still damp, but he could still make out what it said.

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

Callum stared at the note for the longest time, unsure of what to make of it. He could read, of course, but the words on the paper made no sense to him. Why would someone ditch him by the waters and tell him to get to his place of rest he must make a trek into the forest? It was far from luxury, so Callum was sure this was no vacation. He turned the paper over in his hands a few times, wondering what exactly was going on. Seeing as he could think of nothing Callum merely slipped the piece of paper back into his pocket.

As he turned to get his shirt, a piercing scream nearly threw him off his feet. Spinning around Callum was just in time to see a girl fall to the ground and curl up in a ball at the edge of the forest. He stared at her for a moment and let out a held breath. She was here too. Maybe she knew what was going on. Callum quickly put his shoes back on and grabbed his shirt. It wouldn't hurt talking to her, and if she didn't know then at least he wouldn't be alone. Then again the whole scene that he'd just witnessed didn't appeal to him and he couldn't be sure this girl wasn't completely mad.

Callum walked over to her and as he approached he looked down at her curled up body. His first instinct was to poke her with his foot just so that he could jump back if necessary, but then something told him that he should be more polite to her. He leaned down to touch her shoulder, but as he did his eyes fell on her thick, dark golden brown hair. His breath caught in his throat and for a moment he was certain he'd seen such beautiful hair before. It was certainly messy and unruly but he still found it rather beautiful. He gently touched her shoulder and surprised himself by speaking. "Um... are you okay?" His own voice seemed foreign to him, and he didn't know why. He instead paid no attention to it, wondering who this girl was.

Concentrated on blocking out the noises, the thoughts, everything that would eat at her further Loretta hadn't noticed Callum's approach. When his hand -even as gentle as it was- touched her shoulder so close to her hair so near to her last awaking she tensed. However learning from the last time and how her brash reaction had cost her she moved away slower this time. Her hand going up and pushing it away slowly. But as her fingers grazed the tips of his unmet by fur and his voice reach her ears, "Um... are you okay?" her eyes snapped up to him. Tracing his hand all the way up to his chin, she wasn't alone. The realization seemed to deflate her for a moment the breath she let out visibly sagging her shoulders.

Then, rapidly, embarrassment pierced her. She scrambled up, not clumsily -she'd easily evaded several roots which couldn't proven difficultly- however it wasn't exactly graceful either. Her hands went to her hair pulling out one twig that in particular was jabbing her, though she made no effort to do much with the rest. "No," she said humiliation shortening her words. It didn't soften it though, her tone still held a slight offense to the question.

Wasn't it clear things were not alright? Yes, it was and that was why she felt more as if he were questioning her sanity, than her situation. True she may have been rampaging through the forest like a mad woman deserving... The thought occurred to her that she might really be a crazy woman. How was she to know really.

She looked at the man stepping back several paces so she wouldn't have to crane her neck. He was very tall, though maybe she was just severely short. Not having this small point of reference for herself was frustrating. Loretta looked at his face first, her head tilting unconsciously as she tried to place it. It seemed so familiar, his dark eyes especially. They stirred a feeling she couldn't place inside her and quickly her eyes floated down to his bare chest. She bit her lip, a reaction that might appear as flustered on some but not for Loretta. It was hard to tell exactly what she did mean by it in fact.

She diagnosed him as attractive and attempted to file it away. However as her eyes looked back up at his that same flicker of emotion fluttered through her again. It annoyed Loretta, stronger than it should have in the few moments she'd known him. "What happened to your shirt Tarzan?" The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop them.

She cursed herself internally afterward. This may be the only other person within miles that could help her and what was she doing? She was running through forests building walls out of crazy blocks and insulting strangers because they're attractive. She wasn't even positive she knew what a Tarzan was.

((I think Callum was still shirtless, I read your post over and noticed he'd picked up the shirt not put it on. So hopefully that was right. If not can we just keep it that way? Uhmm, as I wrote that I felt like she's gotten a bit... harsher. I'm trying to justify that actually...)

(( I wrote the longest post for Callum last night and then it vanished. :'( Anyways, yes he's still shirtless and her last comment by the way made me laugh lots. haha :D ))

Callum watched as Loretta tensed before touching his hand. He held his breath has her fingers traced his hand up to his chin. Callum stayed still so as not to scare her. The moment her eyes snapped up to meet his, his breath caught in this throat. Where had he seen those eyes before? His lips parted slightly as if meaning to say something to her, but what? He didn't know who she was, and as hard as he tried to remember this girl that was so familiar to him didn't hold a spot in his memory at all.

He watched as she quickly scrambled to her feet, and he slowly stood up straight as well. It was then that he noticed he was tall. Scarily tall. Looking down at her she had to be at least a whole foot shorter than he was. Was she just really short? Or was he really that tall? Callum was surprised at this, but there was no standard thing around them in which he could compare themselves. His eyes flickered over to her hand as it pulled a tiny twig in her hair. She had such beautiful hair. His eyes then immediately went back to her face as she spoke her reply.

Her voice seemed less foreign to him than his own voice did, but why? Why was her voice much more familiar than his own? Callum didn't note the offense in her voice, and even if he had he wouldn't have done much about it.

As Loretta began to take a few steps back Callum stood still, wondering what she was doing. At first he couldn't understand why she'd back away from him, but then he realized that he was a sky scraper and she was a two story house. Loretta tilted her head as her eyes flickered up to his and Callum realized she was surveying him. He felt that he should feel self conscious but he didn't in the least. He was too concentrated on the way she tilted her head, or the way her eyes moved as she looked him up and down. She bit her lip, which made Callum smile ever so slightly. She didn't look flustered, but the way she bit her lip did make him smile oddly enough.

Callum was taken aback by her sudden Tarzan comment, but he soon found himself laughing. "Sorry." He said, then quickly put his shirt on, buttoning it up. As he was doing this, he slowed down a little before his head quickly turned, his eyes locking on Loretta's. Tarzan. Was that his name or something? Would she know? Did she know him? "Wait... is that my name?" he let the words fly out of his mouth. "Do you know me?" He asked, taking a step closer to her.

If this girl knew him then all his problems would be solved, wouldn't they be? He'd know who he was and what he was doing on this island with that strange note in his pocket. The note! Callum turned and pulled the crinkled, slightly smeared note out of his pocket and showed it to her. "Do you know what this means?" He didn't mean to bombard her with so many questions, but he wanted to know. This girl could be the answer to all his problems and he still couldn't remember her name, though he felt as though he should.

It was her eyes that were tracing him not fingers, haha. But it's okay, it's my fault I didn't word it clear enough in the last post.
And that stinks about your post! I would've died! I always copy my post each few paragraphs in afraid something like that will happen.

When Callum laughed at her comment, Loretta was taken back. She should've been relieved, she's been so worried about angering him moments ago. However instead she felt displeased, seeing his smile feeling her heart lighten just the smallest notch it all made her want to run and hide. Yet she stayed put.

She didn't look back until his shirt was shrugged back on, his fingers working on the buttons. "Wait... is that my name?" he said "Do you know me?" That took her back. She didn't have time to think his over before a piece of paper was before her.

She only studied it a moment before her own letter was produced from her pocket. Typed up in the same print she held it's twin up to him. "For all I know my name's Tarzan," she told him. Pulling the note back she folded it slowly her lips pushing into a thin like as she returned the rectangle to her pocket. None of this made any sense. What if there were other people on this island, but none of them couldn't remember a thing. She could've grown up here, those hair stealing monkey's could've been her pets and she would have never known. She did hope though that she would raise a more obedient less frantic pet though.

Her hands went up to her head pushing into her hair as she let out a stressful breath turning to walk toward the beach. Lost in her thoughts, seeming to forget about Callum completely. She looked to the sun up high in the sky she guessed it to be noon. They still had a little while before the sun would sink pointing them in this desired direction. But Loretta wasn't sure she wanted to follow this strange note, she looked back to Callum. "Are you going to follow the note?" she asked though it seemed like more of a demand.

(( Oh okay, that makes sense haha. and yes it was tragic. D: D: ))

Callum watched as Loretta pulled out a little piece of paper that matched his almost exactly, minus the smears. He put his note away as she did. So Tarzan wasn't his name? That was probably a good thing since he didn't take a liking to it in the first place. Callum thought her reply over in his head. So she didn't remember her own name either. Apparently it seemed as though he wasn't the only one with missing memories.

Callum watched as Loretta's hand went to her head and pushed into her hair. She had beautiful hair. He wondered how many times he'd thought that in the past few minutes. He watched as she moved towards the beach and he wondered if she'd forgotten him. What if they had terrible short term memory and her's was shorter than his? That would be weird. He watched her for a while, wondering at the idea before she looked back at him.

Loretta's question seemed obvious to him. "Yeah why not?" Callum asked, blinking as if clueless as to why she'd even ask that. If there was shelter and possibly food he knew he was heading there, and he was positive he'd be there in a heartbeat. Callum wasn't thinking about the consequences of going, that possibly there was something terrible awaiting them. "Aren't you? If you want we could go together." Callum suggested. He didn't really want to be all alone on the trek, that would prove to be rather boring and he still wanted to figure out who this girl was eventually.

Loretta looked at Callum as he talked and as he asked her why not. She thought of the forest around him. She wasn't confident she could survive in that forest alone, or even with this tall man. Did she want to travel with him, he asked. "It's just... it doesn't feel right" she said.

If it was just her memory she could believe it was an odd occurrence. But now someone else was in the exact same situation as her. "This can't be a coincidence," she said her hands tentatively pointing to her own head then Callum's, but her eyes were looking past him. "Do you not find it strange at all? Whoever wrote those letters is clearly the same one who's scrambled our minds," anger was growing in Loretta's veins. She felt violated, she felt... "Why would I ever want to go anywhere closer to where these people are? Why would I voluntarily place myself in their hands?" She felt as if traveling where they said would give them consent into her mind further.

Loretta longed to curl back up into the ball Callum had found her in but resisted. She flicked her head to the ocean wishing she had the knowledge and stamina to swim away from here. When she looked back at Callum moments later, it was as if she was challenging him to disagree with her.

Callum listened to Loretta's reasoning and it did make sense. In fact, he hadn't thought of that previous. Callum merely shrugged his shoulders. "Well, we either go where there's a chance of surviving, or we stay out here where there's a better chance of dying." he said at last. He felt that it really was no coincidence that they both couldn't remember anything, and he did want answers. "Besides, if they had us to mess with our memory then why would they leave us on the edge of an island and tell us to come back? Why wouldn't they be able to just make us wake up at the place?" Callum said. He felt proud of his logic, for it did kind of make sense in his eyes.

The fact of the matter was that why pay the possible thousands of dollars to erase someone's memory and then ditch them if you still wanted them on a deserted island? Maybe whoever had gotten rid of their memories didn't want them anymore. Callum found that to be a large possibility in his eyes. If they still wanted to use them, why had they not just woken them up at this place they were supposed to travel to? And besides, Callum was getting hungry. He usually didn't have to think things over so much to convince himself of anything, and it was bothering him. He wondered how Loretta could do it, could stand in one place and think things over like that. Callum knew he'd be halfway to wherever they were supposed to go by now if he wasn't talking to her.

(( yay! she's already making him think over his actions before he does it :D lol ))

rune lasseur,
New Beginnings Freddie7 New Beginnings Freddie7 New Beginnings Freddie7
you can't choose what stays or fades away
and i'll do anything to make you stay.

The soft thud of ripe, golden papayas falling to the forest floor arose the boy from his slumber. One green eye opened blearily to the sunlight filtering through the trees, staring unblinkingly at the golden ray of light that illuminated his pale features. A hand rose up from the brambles to cover his face, and the moment he looked at his arms and saw that it was covered in burrs, he shot up immediately. Both eyes opened then, along with a startled, horrified gasp, Rune leaped from the bed of plants that he had been lying on, shaking himself like how a wet dog would, in an attempt to remove any thorns or leaves that had settled down on him while he slept. Cursing foully, Rune pressed a palm against a tree to steady himself, gasping at the shock. "Damn it..." he muttered darkly. While he struggled to put his thoughts together, he didn't notice the snake slithering up his arm, hissing softly, forked tongue out to taste the air and probably the scent of him as well.

Letting out a stream of shocked, angry curses in many languages, Rune shook the creature off and fled for his life, his heart beating rapidly. He raced through the trees of the forest, unsure of where to go, the only thought in his head was getting away from that damn creature before it bit him. It took the brunette ten more minutes of running before he realized that he was hopelessly lost in this foreign land. He had no idea where he was, nor did he have any memory of the night before. All he could remember was waking up in a patch of brambles in a forest that looked like the ones that you would find in Asia. A memory clicked into his head then, and his eyes widened at the realization. He had a brother. The details were rather blurry, and Rune could only make out his name and face. Sable. Perhaps this....Sable dude could help him out of this.

He walked on then, stepping over poisonous toadstools and steering clear from any sort of animal or bug he came across. As he did, something soft crinkled in the pocket of his jeans. Stopping, Rune shoved his hand in towards the source of the sound and pulled out a battered looking piece of paper. Not remembering himself ever taking the object, he suspiciously unfolded it and stared at it, reading the words over and over again, heterochromic eyes not missing a word, as though it would help jig his lost memories.

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

What kind of bullshit was this?

Resisting the urge to crumple up the paper, he folded it back and clenched it in a fist. The message irritated him, there was another force at work here, and he was pretty sure that said force was the one that had dumped him on this...island. An island. No wonder the forest. The brunette cocked his head to listen to his surroundings. Besides the occasional howl of the monkeys and caws of the avians in the area, he could almost make out the distinct sound of the ocean hugging the shore. Perhaps he could take a look at the beach and figure out what to do from there; who knows, there could be other people like him, people trapped in this place as well. Rune did not fancy the idea of working with anyone but himself, but his current situation seemed to call otherwise.

When the beach finally came in sight, Rune, not knowing what to do next, decided to sit down. Sliding his back down against a large tree, he leaned his head against its trunk and closed his eyes, his mind whirling. He had to figure out what fate had in store for him soon, or else well, he was screwed. The note was still clutched in his hand, and the object, mediocre as it looked, gave him a faint sense of hope.

She was floating. That's all she could remember. And there was a strong smell of peppermint and apple cinnamon that wafted through the air. Emma could almost taste the delicious apples that her grandmother baked them in the winter. They reminded her of the warm crackling fires and stories of the first Christmas. Emma remembered playing in the snow with her friends in the village and the bite of the cold wind against her cheeks. It was almost so real she could feel it. In fact...Emma was positive this feeling was no dream. And it wasn't snow beneath her fingertips...it was sand. She opened her eyes and the world was tilted at an angle. It took a little while for Emma to realize she was on her stomach on a beach. She coughed a bit and rolled on her side, and eased onto her back. Where the hell was she? Goddamnit.

Emma sat up so rapidly that her head started to spin with stars. She closed her eyes and pressed her palms to her face, breathing deeply. "Merde....qu'est ce qui passé?" it was a while before Emma moved again, trying to keep herself from panicking. There were questions spinning through her head at rapid fire speed and the fact that she couldn't answer any of them was not helping her calm down.

"Ok, breathe Emma, breathe..." she said slowly before looking up and surveying her surroundings. There was a gentle breeze, which helped with calming down her nerves, and there was soft, pearl white sand beneath her that went slightly uphill and slowly mixed with branches and leaves to form a beautiful but slightly ominous looking forest. Emma sighed and looked back out at the water. It was a beautiful blue, almost good enough to swim in, but Emma quickly had to shake that idea out of her mind. She turned back to the forest and stuck her hands in her pockets, contemplating what to do. It was then that she found a crumpled and slightly damp piece of paper in her front pockets. Emma unfolded it, read it:

We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!

She then proceeded to swear colorfully in French, stomping her boot in the sand. Stuffing the paper unceremoniously back into her pocket, Emma looked around her scanning the beach quickly for any signs of life. She didn't look very hard, for if she did, she would have obviously seen a boy slouched against the trees up ahead. Instead, she stomped down the beach, following the water's edge, feeling a sense of peace at the sound of the waves sloshing against the sand. Still muttering to herself in her native language, deep in thought, Emma huffed a breath and made a decision. She took one look at the forest and marched right in.

hayley north,
New Beginnings Scodelario472 New Beginnings Scodelario472 New Beginnings Scodelario472
and nothing is quite what it seems.
you're dreaming, are you dreaming, oh Alice?
She had been awake for hours and still had no idea what the hell was going on.

Hayley wandered through the woods, pausing every now and again to inspect anything that caught her eye, from a shiny, golden ladybug to the unnatural red color of a tree. The more she wandered, the more she ended up coming back to the same spot. It was as though the forest was toying with her, sending her round and round, hoping to make her snap. Yet, on the outside, the brunette looked oddly calm, but inside, she felt as though she wanted to murder everything she could lay her bare hands on. Picking absently at her nails as she wandered, Hayley tromped along, not exactly looking at where she was going. It was only when her nose nearly ran smack into a tree did she stop, turn the other way, and marched on.

Earlier, the girl had woken up with no memory at all except miniature fragments of her memories, fragments she found highly disturbing. However, she was rather curious about them, and replayed them in her head occasionally, to prevent herself from forgetting. The memories were rather blur, and she couldn't make head or tails about the faces that appeared. Not wanting to dwell too much on them lest she became insane, Hayley focused her attention on the surroundings around her. Ah, not to mention or forget that equally disturbing note she had found in her pocket earlier as well. Island. Forest. Beach. Probably zero civilization. Either way, she was screwed, and she might as well accept it. The world was a terrible place after all, and Hayley was caught in the middle, with no chance of escaping.

Shaking her head to herself, Hayley impulsively made the split second decision to climb up a tree and gaze out into the sea. Perhaps she could spot a ship or two, and maybe find a way to call out to them. After pushing a snake down from the tree's branches indifferently, the girl pushed herself up and began to climb the tree's branches. Insects swarmed up her arms as she did, but she brushed them off as though they were no more than leaves. After many rounds of smacking her arms free of insects and pulling off a nasty centipede from the locks of her hair, she made it to the top and perched on the branch, the light of the sun reflecting her green eyes. The sea stretched out before her, a beautiful landscape of blue. Far in the distance, she thought she saw dolphins splashing out of the waves and going back into the sea again.

Etiloy Island...eh?

Snap.

"Crap." the girl murmured as the branch that she had been sitting on snapped into two. And soon enough, she was falling, her body bouncing to and fro from branches, earning itself fresh, new cuts. Closing her eyes, Hayley waited as the tree battered her back and forth, before depositing her on the forest floor, where she landed with a thud. Curling herself up into a ball, she waited for the pain to subside before she dared open her eyes again. Here she was, back at the same spot.

Disgruntled muttering reached her ears and the brunette sat up curiously, cocking an ear towards the sound. There was someone coming. Leaning back against the tree, she waited as the other person popped into her sight patiently. Emerald eyes locking on to the girl's brown ones the moment the latter appeared, she spoke then in a calm, curious tone, as though the other female was a relief, and something that she wouldn't mind inspecting from time to time, like an experiment. "Well, hey there, good day to you. Are you lost too?"

Emma stopped dead in her tracks as soon as she heard the voice pierce the quiet, cold air. Her first thought was to make a run for it - get away while she could. Irrational of her, but it was a fight or flight instinct, and with the current conditions, her logic wasn’t exactly up to par at the moment. She took a few hurried steps away, almost as if to start running, but she stopped and sighed. Obviously if this girl was going to attack her or harm her, she probably would have done so already, with Emma’s head being so in the clouds. Plus, she could use company right now. She wasn’t the best navigator in the world, and got her directions mixed up as quickly as one could tell she was a girl.

Em looked around cautiously before taking a few steps toward the girl. “Actually, yes.” Well no duh she was lost, she might as well be walking upside down and backwards at this point. “I found this note in my pocket -” she fished the crumpled and slightly damp note from her jeans pocket and unfolded it, showing it to the girl. “Do you recognize this?” she said, rubbing her eyes. It was getting late and she was getting sleepy. Em held back a yawn, and leaned against the tree stump. “Something tells me we’re not alone on this island. And not in the Friday the 13th way - I seriously think there are more people on this island. Maybe if we do what the note says we’ll find more people?” Emma held back a yawn again. “Oh, I’m Emma by the way Em or Emma. Last name’s Galloway. Who are you?”

A constant heat hit the body of a peculiar looking character. She laid there on the edge of the beach, far enough away that the water wouldn't hit her until the evening where the tide would surely grow closer. She was dressed in winter clothing. The heat was what woke her up. There were no memories of what happened before and she was growing hotter and hotter. She shed the coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. Kicked off the big boots and ran over to the cool water. She turned her head around to glance back at the island where she woke up.

"What is this place?" She whispered softly to herself. It was bothering her more and more that she couldn't remember how she got here or really anything for that matter. She turned back around and sat on the ground. "Maybe this is a dream. It must be." She tried testing her theory by pinching her arm, but nothing changed.

After cooling off a little longer she got up and gathered her things. She noticed a small piece of paper stuffed inside her coat pocket and took it out.

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

Darcie looked up towards the sunset and took a deep breath. "I suppose if I want to get answers I will have to follow these instructions," she mumbled. She stuffed her feet back into her boots and began her journey into the wilderness of Etiloy Island.

A tiny girl dressed in a deep blue and black strapless dressed laughed as she tilted her head to look back at Kyle. "Come on." she said. She twirled about laughing, her laughter like sweet bells in the air. Kyle followed after her "Wait up..." he said, smiling wildly and watching her spinning figure slow to a stop, her eyes locked on his. Kyle finally caught up with her and gently took her hand. "I love you." he said, smiling. She let out a soft laugh. "Two red roses." she began, her eyes turning away from him as she looked ahead. "One for my best friend, and one for the one I love."

Kyle jerked awake from his dream. Sunlight streamed down through the trees and fell onto his figure. How was it that the trees and the sky seemed so close? It was then that he noticed he had been sleeping up in a tree. Kyle was reluctant to move, for he was perfectly comfortable where he was and on top of that he was afraid he'd fall if he moved any. He looked at the sky through the leaves and let out a deep sigh. He had already forgotten his dream, though he knew it had something to do with a girl that he had strong feelings for, and it had made him all happy inside. He closed his eyes, and wished he could remember. It was then that he realized he didn't remember anything. What was his name? How old was he? Kyle couldn't answer a single question that he threw at himself. A frown passed over his face. Suddenly, it was more important to him to remember his own name rather than his dream. He slowly sat up, the branches creaking slightly under his weight. Kyle looked around. SNAP. The branches gave way and Kyle was suddenly falling through the branches of the trees. Kyle braced himself for the landing, but before he knew it, a large leaf had wrapped itself around him and let him slide gently to the ground. Kyle was standing upright looking about. He was in the middle of a thick forest, with no idea which way to go. He wish he could remember something.

Hayley, who had always retained a habit of taking her time answering anything that came her away, did not answer the other girl immediately. She stood up in reply, and walked forward, noticing that she was taller than the pixie-like brunette in front of her. Tilting her head, she surveyed the other female curiously and circled her like how an animal would, her boots causing the leaves underneath her to produce a loud, crackling sound. It was also in Hayley's oddball nature to inspect everything in life, and anything that made her curious, she would leap forward. When she was done, Hayley stopped circling and returned to her previous spot in front of the girl. Letting out a low hum, she brushed the dirt and leaves off her slacks and smiled lightly, which soon broadened into a wide grin, evident delight that she found someone to spend time and play with for the time being. Everyone needed company after all, and she had found hers.

Ah, so the girl was lost too! Well, no surprise there, Hayley had an odd feeling that anyone who stepped foot onto this island were hopelessly lost like the both of them as well. Her eyes widened at the note the girl offered to her, and her eyebrows knitted together into a frown. "I have one." she replied simply, pulling it out and waving it in front of her before folding it and tucking it neatly back into her pocket. "Perhaps~" The female drawled, pulling at the word, not really caring on whether there were other company on the island or not. They were all screwed anyway. "When the world meets its end, all will fall into wonderland." she murmured, looking up into the sky, as though any moment, it would split itself into two. Her nose crinkling in disappointment when nothing happened, she looked back at the other girl.

"Hayley North~" Hayley chirped lightly, placing her hands behind her back and swayed her shoulders back and forth idly. "Hayls, or Hay, nothing special." She proceeded to shuffle towards the trees. "I don't know about you, but I think I hear birds. Coming?" Without waiting for an answer, the brunette broke into a run into a deeper part of the forest. They couldn't just hang around there all day now, could they?

rune lasseur,
New Beginnings Freddie7 New Beginnings Freddie7 New Beginnings Freddie7
a shotgun and a telecaster - words aligned in row
do you despise the sounds of gunfire?

No, he wasn't going to sit here until night fell and hunger took over.

As tempting as the idea sounded, it took Rune a lot of willpower to not just give up without even doing so much as look around the damn place. Placing his head in his hands and gritting his teeth, he resisted the urge to turn around and slam his fist into the tree until his hands bled. Doing so would only cause more damage to himself, and the boy reluctantly gave up the idea as well. He looked up, his eyes locking on to the distant horizon, the beach an endless sea of sand and water. Feeling a sudden longing for home, wherever the hell it was, Rune wondered whether he could swim out and hopefully come across a boat. Within seconds, reality was rearing its ugly head and slapping him across the face. Such deeds, tempting as it sounded, were completely impossible and would only result in his demise. Not wanting to die in loneliness in this hellhole, the gears in Rune's mind began to whirl, seeking an escape from this place.

A loud snap made him jump and glance around wildly, making him get to his feet immediately. His body stiffening in tension, Rune raked a gaze towards the depths of the forest. Balling his hands up into fists, the brunette stalked into the jungle, searching for the source of the snapping sound. For all he knew, it could be anything, from poisonous snakes to simply just a branch falling. He burst through the undergrowth, hellbent on ripping anything that came in his way apart when all he was met was another boy, who looked as though he could simply knock Rune over with that height of his. Startled at the sight of something completely natural, Rune reared backwards and his heterochromic eyes widened in surprise, only for them to narrow into slits in seconds. A cold, outraged silence surrounded him, anger at everything that happened coming to life. He opened his mouth then, and his voice came out, harsher than intended. It was obvious that the anger wasn't aimed at the other boy, and the way Rune spoke, he could very well be snarling at himself.

"Well, well, how perfect. Another one." He growled, rolling his eyes. First impressions were always lost to him for some reason. Turning his back to the blonde, he stalked back towards the beach, not wanting to take out his irritation on some stranger, not even once sparing the thought that the other boy could help him. Independence on yourself was normally an excellent trait to possess, as one did not often have to rely on others. Rune had always been self-dependent, finding it a sign of weakness to ask for help, but times like this clearly called for a change of heart.

Kyle stood still as he reviewed his surroundings. He turned his head to one side just as a boy much shorter than himself yet who looked no older than himself burst through the undergrowth. Kyle took a step back in surprise, and quietly watched this boy's expression change dramatically. Kyle was not only surprised that this boy had come bursting through the peaceful looking foliage, but was also curious as to how this boy got here as well. He opened his mouth to speak but shut it as Rune grumbled something before turning to leave. Kyle paused, and his own expression shifted to slight annoyance. "Pleasure to meet you too." He muttered under his breath. He was about to turn and walk the other way when he realized that he had no idea where he was or where he was going. Maybe this boy had some sort of idea? Kyle hesitated, not liking the idea of asking others for help when if they could figure it out he could easily as well. Kyle watched as the boy walked back to wherever he came from and broke under the pressure. There was no way he'd survive without help. He'd have to set aside his pride for now. "Hey wait!" Kyle took a few long strides to catch up with Rune. He tapped the boy lightly on the shoulder. "Uh I don't suppose you know where we are, do you?" Kyle asked. He didn't really care for introductions, mostly because he didn't even know his own name at this point.

Ali had collapsed on the beach, fearfully holding her head as bright orange flashed before her eyes. The bright sun, the screeching monkeys... she couldn't take it. Her Synthasesia was acting up and she didn't know why. It had never been like this before. She had woken up to the sound of screeching monkeys and screaming. Bright orange had flashed through her senses and pain had shot through her body. She had run away from the noises, trying to protect herself all the while looking like a lunatic in the process. As she had broken through the forest and into the sunlight, the bright light stung her eyes and sang a song too loud for her liking. She had run to the water's edge and laid down, trying to sort things through in her mind but not coming up with an answer. So here she was, lying on the edge of the beach and listening to the soft gentle music the water played her and watching the gentle blues and greens fly across her senses as the water rushed over her skin. Her arms hurt from flailing as wildly as she had out of fear and pain, so she just laid still, hoping that she'd wake up from this nightmare in her own soft plush bead with the sweet smell of cinnamon toast coming from downstairs and the quiet clink and the pretty stars of the dishes as her mother washed them. Ali let these bits and pieces of her memory fill her mind and take her over as she lay in the soft warm sand. Everything would be alright. She'd wake up soon enough to this exact memory, and then she'd walk downstairs and happily eat her toast while watching the stars dance across her mind as her mother washed dishes.
Ali's figure would've looked somewhat haunting to anyone passing by. She was completely still and somewhat dead - looking. However at the same time she seemed to display a sense of peace if one got close enough to her body. She wore a pinkish red dress with little flowers all over it. Her feet were bare and her arms and legs were scratched up from her run through the forest. Her hair was a complete mess and looked rather ridiculous. If anyone questioned her sanity at this point they would have no reason not to.

Kat lay in a pile of leaves and twigs at the base of a large tree. Her hair was tangled and a mess from sleeping there, but she continued to sleep ever so soundly. Her bleach blonde hair was filled with twigs and dead leaves, but other than that she looked like a pale ghost sleeping soundly. Suddenly, her eyes shot open and she sat up quickly, slapping a bug away that was sitting on her arm. She quickly looked around. One would think that a look of panic should have crossed her eyes, but none did. She sat up and crossed her legs, quietly picking out various leaves and twigs from her hair for quite some time before she stood up. She looked around for a while and slowly went things through in her mind. Before long she realized she had no answers to any questions that she harbored. Maybe she carried some sort of ID with her? She reached into her pockets and looked around but found nothing. She let out a long sigh and looked around once more, before her eyes fell on a white piece of paper on the ground where she'd been sleeping. She bent down and picked it up to read.

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

A sense of annoyance crossed her mind. She looked up at the sky but could not see anything through the thick canopy. She began to make her way in a random direction, feeling as though if she did she'd eventually reach a shore. It wasn't long before she reached the beach. She looked around briefly and looked up at the sun in the sky. She squinted at it for a while, trying to figure out which way it was going or where it was coming from, but she couldn't tell. After a while she finally went back towards the forest and sat down in the shade against a tree. Sun didn't go well with her pale skin, and she preferred the dark or the shade. Kat decided that if she sit here long enough, she would be able to tell which way the sun was going and therefore reach this place of rest that this note was talking about. She didn't really have any other choice, even though she knew that this note found on the ground was rather creepy. Kat found she had too much to think about, and she detested over thinking things. She closed her eyes and let out a deep breath before she began to clear her mind of any thoughts. Before long, she was sitting there peacefully without a thought or care in the world.

There was sea salt in the air. It was quiet, except for the lapping of the waves. Leo got up, and looked around. The light was fading from the sky, and it was getting to the point where Leo couldn't tell if there were shadows around or if the light was just tricking his eyes. Must be a combination of both, he decided. He brushed the sand off his jacket and began walking. Only a few steps and Leo stumbled over something, almost landing face first in the sand. He caught himself, and looked back at what he'd tripped over. It was a girl, curled up on the ground. She looked almost...dead. Leo sighed, ruffling his hair and inched his way over to the girl, kneeling down next to her. "Hey....Miss? Are you alright?" he reached out a hand and touched her shoulder gently. He then put two fingers to her neck, and quickly found she had a pulse, so she wasn't dead. Thank god for that. "Miss?" he said softly again, looking at her with clear blue eyes.

Ali lay there silently for a while, enveloped in her sweet senses, when someone touched her, rather, kicked her. A quick hint of orange flashed before her eyes as the pain struck her, but she pretended to lie still, not knowing who or what that was. The second touch was different. It wasn't threatening in the least, but was definitely confident and concerned. Ali was still slow to move. Her eyes blinked open and she glanced up at the figure bent over her. She stared at this man for a few moments, replaying his voice in her head. His voice tasted of sugar and cocoa, with a rich creamy texture. It was a gentle blue as well. Ali slowly sat up. "Uh yes I'm fine." she said quickly. He had very pretty blue eyes, and she began to wonder if she'd ever seen anyone with such blue eyes before. It was then that she realized she had been lying in the sand, and had most likely looked like a lunatic. She quickly brushed sand out of her hair and flew to her feet. She then quickly brushed the sand off her dress. Just as she did she knocked a small piece of paper out of her dress pocket. Ali quickly grabbed it before it fell and looked at it to read.

'We welcome you to Etiloy Island as our honored guest
Please don't fret
We have prepared you a place to rest
Just follow the sunset!'

Ali stared at the paper for what seemed forever to her before she could actually read it. She hated that all the letters were different colors and had different tastes. For once she wished that at least could be constant. It wasn't that she was stupid or couldn't read, but it was difficult to read when almost every other letter was a different color from the rest. "What?" She murmured looking around. "Where... am I?" she said slowly. Panic crossed her mind but she quickly tried to control it before her senses started acting up.

rune lasseur,

do you despise the sounds of gunfire?

Irritation completely enveloping his mind at that very moment, Rune continued stalking through the undergrowth, hellbent on getting back to the beach and into open space. As all he could feel was chilly anger surging through his veins, he barely spared a thought about the fate of the lad that he had left behind. No, he had to stop, calm himself and down, and freaking think straight. He needed help, though his pride refused to acknowledge it. All he had ever done was think for himself...and the thought of actually asking someone for help was enough to send him over the edge. A feeling of guilt washed through him at the same time at these words at displaying such rudeness at the boy back there and just for a brief moment, Rune considered turning around and maybe...reluctantly, ask as to what the hell was going on.

He didn't get the chance to brood on it however. Loud tromping behind him made the boy stop and freeze. A finger tapped his shoulder lightly and he hissed at the contact, his head turning over sharply to glare at the same boy he had left behind a few minutes ago. "Do not touch me." he spat, jerking away from the blonde and taking a few strides backwards, struggling to compose himself. He sighed, pressing a hand to his forehead, making sure he had reined his temper before speaking again, his tone more chilly than irritated. "Etiloy. There should be a note in your pocket. I do not know about this place anymore than you do." He paused and then added reluctantly, might as well get this over with already. "You may call me Rune."
